before i sing

the body electric

before I breathe

     my last breath of air

i'll feast my eyes on

      passionate visions

 and blind my heart

     with beauty

ill search for formless

    scripts of sages

 dwell on tea leaves

      taste the air

 i'll swim a mountain

 run a river

kiss an old hag

      stroke her hair.

ill look at laughter

  as a point well taken

     dance madly backwards

  with no partner there.

  ill begin in the carving

    of my tombstone eclectic

and singing my body

             with flair.
