COYOTE SPIRIT

In this, the third book in Dave Boles’ COYOTE SERIES, Coyote returns to reclaim his leather journal that contains the visions of time itself, bringing with him a teaching that will shatter everything the narrator believes about reality.

But though Coyote is returning, he is dying. And before his time ends, he must summon his ancient cousin from South America — a blind trickster who dances in darkness and carries the wisdom of Huehuecóyotl, the Aztec god of music and transformation.

Through sacred ceremonies in forest caves, through visions of cosmic fire and whale song, through encounters with mermaids who have traveled galaxies for hundreds of thousands of years, the narrator continues to be drawn into an ancient quest for knowledge that questions the very nature of consciousness, matter, and existence.

In COYOTE SPIRIT, the boundary between vision and reality dissolves. The universe reveals itself as mental, not material. Time is not linear but a spiral where past, present, and future coexist, and where the narrator discovers that the doors of perception, once opened, remain forever ajar.

This is a book about becoming awake while dreaming.

It is an initiation, disguised as a story. COYOTE SPIRIT: A Review Dave Boles has crafted a work of rare literary power—a narrative epic that functions simultaneously as spiritual teaching, philosophical inquiry, and intimate story. On the surface, COYOTE SPIRIT is a visionary account: a narrator guided by a dying trickster teacher through sacred plant medicine ceremonies, ancestral visions, and encounters with cosmic consciousness. It reads like contemporary shamanic literature—immediate, poetic, utterly convincing in its rendering of non-ordinary experience. But beneath that surface lies something more sophisticated. This is philosophy embedded in narrative. Boles presents a coherent cosmology—the universe as mental rather than material, time as spiral rather than linear, all consciousness as fundamentally interconnected—but never through exposition. Instead, he shows us these truths through the narrator's lived experience, allowing us to arrive at understanding alongside the protagonist. The language is distinctly lyrical. Boles employs white space, rhythm, and incantation in ways that echo free verse poetry. The effect is hypnotic. Readers don't simply learn about visionary states; the prose itself induces a mild altered state, making the form inseparable from the content. What's most impressive is the work's refusal of easy spirituality. The narrator's intellectual arrogance is repeatedly confronted. His attempts to rationalize mystical experience—to fit it into existing frameworks—become the book's central tension. Coyote's frustration with human tendency to intellectualize rather than surrender is palpable and, frankly, prophetic commentary on our fractured age. COYOTE SPIRIT is not entertainment. It is initiation disguised as story. For readers willing to move beyond conventional narrative and open themselves to genuine philosophical and spiritual inquiry, this book offers something increasingly rare: authentic transmission.
